A Very Brief Chat With Tinchy Stryder
Tinchy Stryder has been on London’s underground music radar for years, playing on the pirate radio stations that launched the grime scene to its now ubiquitous status as an all-conquering music genre.
His performance in the huge ballroom called, erm, The Ballroom, closed The Creators Project London event, and lived up to the hype. We’ve always been big fans of Tinchy Stryder so we grabbed a quick opportunity to talk to him backstage whilst he was busily preparing for the gig.
The Creators Project: Hey Tinchy, your fame has grown exponentially since we last spoke.
Tinchy: Yeah, it’s been pretty crazy.
We love that song “You’re The One”, we know all the words.
It’s actually called “Number 1”. It’s funny you say that though, because when we were first writing it we called it “You’re The One” and only changed it towards the end.
No way! Did you ever think, way back when, that you would be performing at an event like this?
Well, it wasn’t something that I went after, for me making music was enough, it was a hobby. I didn’t think about how it would end up or anything, like getting a record in a record store.
And that’s it! We told you it was brief, but check back later in the week for more, and footage of his performance.
