Fender Jaguar guitars? Heartbreaking girl and guy harmonies? Hazy feedback that hides shimmering melodies you can’t get out of your head? All the best bits of Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Pavement and Teenage Fanclub rolled into one impossibly cool-looking band? Yup, it can only be Yuck.
With the room heaving after guests came buzzing in from the pop panel, Yuck proved they’re a kind of masterclass all of their own. Rolling out their modern slacker-indie classics “Georgia” and “Weakend”, the crowd were singing along, and dismayed cries rang out when the band’s set was terminated when they over-ran their time slot.
