The Creators Project

Creators Birdy Nam Nam (Crazy-B, DJ Pone, DJ Need, and Little Mike) are four French DJs who have mastered the art of making original music with turntables, effectively using the turntables as instruments. Though they originally worked with vinyl records, they say the computer has liberated their process—allowing them to make their entire music collection portable, find their place in the track more easily, and better maneuver their craft. They’re constantly searching for new ways to to play tones and notes, generating symphonies of percussive beats on decks to create as many new sounds as possible.

Even though their live sets are partly programmed, they always leave room for sequencing on the fly, assuming the energy of a rock show, which is why their creatively fueled sets have led them to play with artists like Iggy Pop, The Hives, and Kanye West. We think their highly-technical process is definitely worth exploring more, which is why this year, we took them to Paris. The Creators Project: Birdy Nam Nam Series allowed you to meet the artists, get an inside look at how they produced their latest album, and watch live performances.
