About the event

This year we brought our curated series of state-of-the-art installations, film screenings, panels, and concerts to the Biennial Pavilion for a 3-day cultural extravaganza. Located within Ibirapuera Park—São Paulo’s equivalent to New York City’s Central Park—the wide-open and exposed space, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, is considered an icon of Brazilian modern architecture.

We billed acts like Chairlift, a DJ set by Database, a DJ set by Tom Vek (with live visuals from Saam Farahmand) and hosted the release party for Emicida’s new album (produced in part with K-Salaam & Beatnick).

We also collaborated with artists like Quayola, Muti Randolph, BijaRi and Cantoni + Crescenti to exhibit installations, as well as David Bowie, Mick Rock and Barney Clay’s new Life on Mars Revisited installation that we premiered at our Paris event in June 2011. United Visual Artists graced the space with the third iteration of the massive cube structure they initially created for the Coachella main stage, which was previously reconfigured for the Nuits sonores festival in Lyon.

We screened films including Scenes from the Suburbs by Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire, Logorama by H5, 4 by Edouard Salier and hosted panel discussions and workshops with Cisma and Casa da Cultura Digital and K-Salaam & Beatnick.
